PRE-K PROGRAM

Welcome

Welcome to the world of Pre-K where play and learning are combined to make your child's first school experience the most joyous it can be! Step by step we walk through the tools that your child needs to build in order to work and grow in Kindergarten.

As a team, our Pre-K staff works with the first teachers of your child-the parents -to help their angels grow strong mentally, physically and spiritually to be best they can be.  The children get to utilize the social skills that set the foundation to practice "Do Unto Others…." for a lifetime.

Through song and play, we praise God ( Who made us special!), learn pre-reading skills, math skills, social studies, science, languages, body awareness and the ever present alphabet. All this is done by incorporating the lessons into game, music, movement and old fashioned fun!

My Philosophy

My philosophy is that each and every child deserves to feel the joy of learning by accomplishing realistic goals and stepping stones set for them. By doing this, we set up a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Each child needs to be treated as the unique and special gift from God that they are and be aware of the happiness they bring to others by being themselves.

I believe that a child should be encouraged to try his best even if it results in mistakes-being aware that most of our greatest inventions have been made by making mistakes. Each step we take leads us in the direction of who we will be at our highest potential, even our missteps.

I believe that the sheer joy of life that exists in children should never be hampered but rather utilized in the learning process. The work of a child is play, and through that they learn best. Each child learns in a different manner, and it is critical to provide a variety of play/learning arenas.

I believe that I am a facilitator to the exponential capacity for learning these children possess. The natural curiosity of a three/four year old dwarfs that of an adult and simply needs guidance to make what the child already has a reality.

Simply put, be their biggest cheerleader and children can reach for the universe and attain it- while teaching us to have fun along the way!

Classroom Rules

1. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

2. Manners matter!!!

3. Respect is expected for all people we meet.

4. Sharing makes everything more fun.

5. Safety for yourself and others is important.

Curriculum

In the three-year olds classroom, there is an emphasis on learning to follow rules, cooperate, take turns, and share among other general rules of socialization. Colors, shapes opposites, and identification of objects that are the same or different are some concepts covered. The alphabet is introduced but not emphasized. Number recognition and body awareness is used in play. These are all skills that are required in the four year old program.
