EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Academic Bowl

Sacred Heart School fields a team in the Diocesan Academic Bowl every Spring.  The competition surrounds two teams answering curriculum-related questions.  Teams are comprised of six to ten team players, with at least two members from 7th Grade, and the remaining from 8th Grade.  We are proud to have had championship teams in the Academic Bowl in many past seasons.  Mrs. Shirley Gorsky is the Advisor for our Academic Bowl Team.

CYO Sports

Sacred Heart School is proud to have had students in the past participate on the CYO Girls' Volleyball, Cross Country, Track, Boys' and Girls' Basketball, and Cheerleading squads.  Our students are eligible to join with their Sacred Heart Parish friends on these teams.  More information can be found by clicking here.

National Jr. Honor Society

Sacred Heart School is proud have a chapter of the National Jr. Honor Society at our school.  This national organization recognizes and encourages academic achievement while also developing characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy.  Membership is an honor bestowed upon a student.  Selection for membership in our chapter is by a majority vote of our faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship, Christian values, character, leadership, service, and citizenship.  Candidates become members when inducted at a special ceremony.  To be eligible for membership the candidate must be a member of the seventh or eighth grade, in a non-modified academic program.  To see our By-Laws, please click here.

Sacred Heart Parish Children's Choir

Sacred Heart School students are eligible to participate in the Sacred Heart Parish Choir.  This choir provides beautiful song as part of the Parish Liturgy on the 2nd Sunday of each month at the 11:00 Mass (October through May).  Parishioner Mrs. Beth Beers moderates the Parish Choir.

Student Council

The SHS Student Council is comprised of student-elected officers and representatives.  President and Vice-President are offices held by Eighth Graders; Secretary and Treasurer are held by Seventh Graders.  Two (2) Class Representatives are elected for each grade, Fifth through Eighth.  Mrs. Carol Derhammer is the Adviser for our Student Council.

Our mission is to promote charitable experiences throughout our school by offering opportunities to serve our neighbor.  Through leadership and service, we strive to become good student role models.  Exhibiting school pride is a mandate required by Mrs. Derhammer.
