Sacred Heart School Dress Code

Sacred Heart has and enforces a strict uniform code.

All School Uniforms can be bought from Flynn & Ohara, You can go to one of their stores to buy them or you can buy them online at Flynn & Ohara's website.

We also provide a uniform "exchange" each semester for parents who want to donate gntly worn uniforms their children have outgrown, for parents in need of uniforms, but the exchange is first come, first serve and supplies are limited.

Girls Uniforms

Grades K-5

• SHS blue plaid jumper or SHS blue plaid skort
• light blue blouse with round collar (short or long sleeve)
• navy blue knee socks or tights
• SHS monogrammed navy sweater (cardigan, V-neck or vest)
• sensible shoes (navy blue, black or brown, no sneaker type shoe) with
  heels of appropriate height

Autumn Option (September – October 14)

• white short sleeve banded shirt with SHS logo with skort

Winter Option (October 15 – March 31)

• White turtleneck
• Navy blue pants with white short sleeve banded shirt with SHS logo
• Skortw/banded shirt

Spring Option (April 1 – June)

• white short sleeve banded shirt with SHS logo with skort

Grades 6-8

• SHS blue plaid skirt or SHS blue plaid skort
• white button down blouse (short or long sleeve)
• SHS monogrammed navy sweater (cardigan, V-neck or vest)
• navy blue knee socks or tights
• sensible shoes (navy blue, black or brown, no sneaker type shoe) with

Permitted

• Girls who have pierced ears may wear small post earrings or hoops with a diameter of ½ inch or less
• Hair accessories must be tasteful and match the colors in the school uniform
• Only CLEAR nail polish may be worn

Not permitted

• Sneakers (with or without lug soles), sandals, flip-flops, clogs, open heeled shoes, boots, high top shoes or athletic shoes
• dangling earrings, ear cuffs or earrings worn above the lobe
• exotic or ornate clothing, jewelry or hairstyles*
• colored nail polish
• inappropriate hair colors*
• make-up of any kind
• tattoos
• Length of the uniform is to be in accord with the dictates of modesty and good taste. The skirt must touch the floor when in a kneeling position.
• No artificial means to adjust skirt length (rolling, etc.) is permitted.

*Appropriateness to be determined by the Principal

Boys Uniforms

Grades K-5

• navy blue trousers (if trousers have belt loops, belt MUST be worn)
• black, brown or navy blue belt
• collared white dress shirt (short or long sleeve)

• wearing of any exotic or ornate clothing, jewelry or hairstyles*
• earrings or tattoos
• inappropriate hair coloring*
• "no show" socks

Gym Uniforms

Boy and Girls K-8

May be worn the entire day on GYM DAY ONLY

Monogrammed items MUST be purchased at Flynn & O'Hara

• Monogrammed SHS T-shirt
• Monogrammed gym shorts
• Monogrammed sweatpants
• Monogrammed sweatshirt regular white socks sneakers
  

Autumn Option (September – October 14)

• Sweatpants not required: may choose to come to and from school in gym shorts (weather permitting)
  

Winter Option (October 15 – April 30)

• MUST wear sweatpants over gym shorts

Spring Option (May 1 – June)

• Sweatpants not required: may choose to come to and from school in gym shorts (weather permitting)
  

NOT Permitted

• "no show" socks
• No sweatshirts (including hooded, CYO sports, Cougar pride wear, etc,) other than the specified gym sweatshirt may be worn in gym class and in the classroom on gym day.

Students who are not wearing their designated gym uniform on their specified gym day will phone their parents/guardians for a change and/or addition to their gym clothes. They will wait in the office until the clothes are provided. If parents are unable to bring the clothes in a timely manner, a pink slip will be issued to the student for inappropriate attire. Please refer to the Discipline Code on page 23.

*The Principal and classroom teacher make the decision regarding appropriate (classroom) gym attire, based on the weather/temperature.
